My name is Elaine Middlestetter and I’m running for Bellbrook City Council this November.
My husband Robert and I moved to Bellbrook in 1980 because of Bellbrook’s good schools and the friendly small town atmosphere. We believed this would be a great place to raise our two young girls
and we were right!

I believe living and working in a community implies a commitment to stewardship, something I take very seriously. Ever since moving to Bellbrook, I have been involved at some level in issues, events and projects that impact our community.

Today, the City of Bellbrook is facing serious financial challenges. Everyone has felt the impact of the recent “Great Recession” and our country’s devastating financial crisis. Almost everyone has had to make adjustments in their lifestyle and expectations—I know we certainly have.

Bellbrook is facing decreased revenue from traditional sources, scant opportunities for new sources of income, and increasing costs. Our leadership has been diligent in their efforts to continue the service levels to which we have become accustomed, while at the same time looking for ways to economize and lower costs. That policy will need to be accelerated in the years ahead. Some difficult decisions will need to be made— the city by law has to have a balanced budget.

The primary responsibility of the City is to provide for basic services. Everything else is second priority. As an involved citizen and a long-time business owner, I believe I am qualified to explore the City’s options and seek solutions that will minimize the direct impact on you.
